Sixteen national and regional case studies were published by the Global Mangrove Alliance to show how mangrove policy is moving from broad pledges to implementation.
Five policy themes structure the collection, covering restoration, climate commitments, blue-carbon finance, biodiversity planning, and integration into coastal management and disaster-risk frameworks.
Countries including Indonesia, Mexico, Ecuador and Kenya are featured on restoration, while Cambodia, Costa Rica, Panama, Honduras, Jamaica and Belize show how mangroves are being folded into NDCs and land-tenure policy.
The report says durable mangrove protection depends on cross-sector collaboration, science-based monitoring, community rights, equitable governance and legal stability beyond political or funding cycles.
Its release comes as governments update NDCs and biodiversity plans ahead of UNCBD COP17 and UNFCCC COP31, positioning the case studies as a practical guide for turning global climate and biodiversity commitments into action.
