Amazon Redesigns Indiana Campus for 6,000-Server AGI SuperCluster

Internal planning documents show Amazon is reworking part of its rural Indiana AI campus into an "AGI SuperCluster" by linking multiple data centers and deploying more than 6,000 Trainium-powered servers.
The accelerated buildout is meant to give Amazon's AGI group enough compute to train its next frontier model before year-end, with one document targeting readiness for the early-December re:Invent conference.
The redesign would let existing buildings operate as annexes sharing networking, storage and fiber infrastructure, while some facilities swap older Trainium 2 systems for newer Trainium 3 servers.
The push signals Amazon's frontier-model plans remain active despite recent AGI layoffs and the wind-down of the Nova model series, according to people familiar with the effort.
The Indiana complex already houses parts of Project Rainier for Anthropic, and the overhaul fits Amazon's broader AI spending surge after it lifted projected 2026 capital expenditures to $220 billion from $200 billion.
