Project Kuiper is joining a new wave of satellite internet constellation deployments, adding Amazon to a market still dominated by Starlink and business-focused OneWeb.
Remote areas with weak broadband coverage are driving demand, helping satellite internet gain more traction in North America than in parts of Asia and Europe.
Statista Consumer Insights found just 4% of respondents in Germany use satellite internet at home, with similarly low uptake in Japan and even lower use in China.
OneWeb, part of Eutelsat, targets businesses, transport providers and governments rather than households, while two Chinese constellations are also being rolled out.
