Isaac Herzog said antisemitism has become a global "contamination of societies," urging governments, police and schools to confront it aggressively rather than treat it as only a Jewish or Israeli issue.
NYPD data show anti-Jewish incidents made up 56.9% of all confirmed New York City hate crimes in 2026 so far, despite Jews accounting for about 10% of the city's population.
Herzog linked that climate to recent violence, citing the Manhattan stabbing of two men — including one visibly Jewish — and accusing New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani of spreading antisemitic rhetoric.
J7 task force data broadened the warning: 20 people were killed in antisemitic attacks across seven diaspora countries in 2025, the deadliest year since 1994, with more than 23,000 incidents recorded.
Herzog also pointed to Holocaust denial and social-media distortion, saying platforms such as TikTok help smear Israel and erode historical understanding, which he argues makes education a central part of the response.
