Darline Graham used her first major interview as South Carolina's new senator to cast herself as a Trump-aligned conservative drafted into office after Lindsey Graham's death.
Trump's endorsement is central to her launch: she said he asked her to run, and she pledged to advance his agenda on voter ID, immigration, abortion, guns and transgender issues.
Her first legislative marker was co-sponsoring the SAVE America Act, and she said she would cancel the Senate's August recess to help push it to Trump's desk.
Graham also leaned on executive credentials, saying she ran a 130-employee state agency with a $90 million budget for seven years and turned it into a national model.
The interview doubled as an introduction to voters, with Graham stressing she is South Carolina's first female U.S. senator and framing the race against Democrat Annie Andrews as a fight over conservative social values.
