Taylor Ward, Seranthony Dominguez and Brendan Donovan join Seattle’s active roster Tuesday for a three-game series against Detroit, giving the Mariners immediate help in the outfield, bullpen and infield.
Only 2 trades were completed before the deadline because Seattle could not land another reliever in what GM Justin Hollander called an extreme market with few sellers, many buyers and poor fits on price and contract length.
Ward arrived Monday from Baltimore after Luke Raley went on the injured list with a forearm flexor strain that could end his season, while Donovan returns from the IL to cover third base with J.P. Crawford sidelined.
