MSV Faize Noore Oliya capsized and sank off Yemen after a projectile strike, with all 14 crew members — including 13 Indians — rescued safely, India said.
Yemen's transportation ministry blamed the Iran-backed Houthis, saying the attack used an explosives-laden boat, though the group has not commented and the strike has not been independently confirmed.
India called the attack unprovoked and deeply worrisome, urging an end to assaults on commercial shipping and the restoration of free navigation through regional waterways.
The sinking adds to a run of Red Sea attacks after Iran blocked the Strait of Hormuz in February, pushing some traffic onto alternate routes that are now also under threat.
Oil prices still fell to a three-week low Tuesday as U.S. officials signaled possible progress toward a deal to reopen Hormuz, even as Iran said it is not negotiating with Washington.
