Summary
Five new devices — Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Fold8, Z Flip8, Watch Ultra2 and Watch9 — were introduced at Samsung’s July 22 Unpacked event with comfort positioned as the unifying design goal.
Samsung said the lineup broadened because foldable users now split between productivity and portability, prompting a wider Z series rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra was pitched as Samsung’s slimmest Fold yet, while the Fold8 adopted a passport-inspired layout with a 16:10 outer screen and 4:3 inner display for easier one-handed use.
Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Watch9 kept Samsung’s core cushion design but refined wearability with lighter, thinner, more breathable bands validated against more than 100 million wrist data points and 10,000 simulations.
Hubert Lee said the broader philosophy is human-centered design in an AI era, using what Samsung calls 'Emotive Slim' and 'Emotive Geometry' to make devices feel more natural in daily use.
