25 U.S. States Sue Trump Over 10%-12.5% Tariffs on 60 Trading Partners

Summary
Twenty-five Democratic-led states filed suit Monday in the U.S. Court of International Trade, arguing Trump’s latest tariffs on more than 80 countries exceed his legal authority.
The complaint says USTR’s July 23 Section 301 action against 60 trading partners was arbitrary because its own forced-labor investigation did not support broad tariffs as the remedy.
California Attorney General Rob Bonta, co-leading the case, called the levies a tax that raises Americans’ cost of living; the White House said Section 301 remains a lawful, durable tool.
The lawsuit is the third state challenge to Trump’s recent tariff push after the Supreme Court blocked his February IEEPA tariffs and a trade court in May found related Section 122 levies unlawful.
