Brown Study Finds Just 2 Titan River Deltas Among Large Coastal Channels

Flow estimates from earlier work suggest at least some Titan rivers can move substantial sediment, with one delta-bearing river inferred to discharge at roughly Mississippi-like scale.
The study instead points to shifting sea levels, winds, tides and unusual liquid-sediment chemistry as likely reasons sediment is dispersed, reworked or not preserved in classic delta shapes.
The result leaves Cassini-era data with a real geologic puzzle that likely requires future high-resolution coastal mapping or in-situ measurements beyond NASA’s planned Dragonfly mission.
