$2.95 billion in statewide economic activity and 5,820 jobs were tied to Michigan Central in 2025, its first economic impact report found.
1,420 of those jobs were direct positions at Michigan Central, while about 4,400 came indirectly or through induced economic activity across Michigan.
The 30-acre Detroit innovation district has produced a cumulative $5.2 billion impact, built a network of more than 240 companies in 60-plus industries, and drawn more than 40% of them from outside Michigan.
More than 3,000 youth and adults have gone through its workforce programs since 2023, while Corktown and Southwest Detroit have seen over 50 completed renovation and construction projects since redevelopment began in 2018.
By 2028, Michigan Central is projected to support more than 2,500 direct jobs and generate $3.2 billion in annual economic impact.
