CineD measured 16 stops of dynamic range on the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Pro’s wide camera in 10-bit D-Log2 at ISO1600, the best result in more than 70 lab tests and ahead of the ARRI ALEXA 35.
LOFIC sensor technology drove that result by adding roughly 2 stops of highlight headroom without a rolling-shutter penalty; the Pocket 4 Pro also delivered 10 stops of exposure latitude, with codec limits appearing beyond that.
Insta360’s Luna Ultra posted the opposite extreme: its wide camera managed only 4 to 5 stops of exposure latitude, the worst CineD has recorded, while aggressive noise reduction distorted most dynamic-range readings.
The gap matters commercially because DJI’s camera starts at €600 versus €729 for the Luna Ultra, while also resolving visibly more detail despite topping out at 4K rather than 8K.
The broader takeaway is that a 1-inch LOFIC sensor in a pocket camera now outperforms many larger-sensor rivals, suggesting the technology could soon reshape smartphone and compact-camera image quality.
