A month-long hands-on post from forum user Fouquin offers one of the first looks at Microsoft’s Surface Laptop Ultra with NVIDIA’s RTX Spark, using NVIDIA’s 616.00 preview driver.
Some working CUDA and graphics tests placed the chip near a desktop GeForce RTX 4070, but 3DMark results were weaker: Port Royal ran at 31 FPS and Steel Nomad at about 22 FPS, closer to an RTX 3060 Ti.
Cinebench 2024 multi-thread scored 1,386 points, leaving the Arm-based CPU behind Apple’s MacBook M4 Pro, while parts of the Phoronix AI suite failed because the software and drivers remain pre-release.
Fouquin also reported stutters, unstable GPU clocks, broken G-SYNC behavior, local-dimming issues and power profiles that did not work as expected, suggesting the sample is still immature.
RTX Spark—NVIDIA’s N1X Arm CPU and Blackwell GPU package announced at Computex 2026—is slated to ship in premium Windows on Arm laptops later in Fall 2026.
