$3 million will settle Emily Willis' family's lawsuit against Malibu Lighthouse Treatment, with court documents showing Willis is expected to receive about $1.25 million after fees and liens.
The case stemmed from Willis' January 2024 admission for ketamine addiction and her cardiac arrest a month later at the facility, where CPR lasted 30 to 40 minutes before her heartbeat returned.
Her family alleged the rehab let her become frail, disoriented and dehydrated before she was found unconscious; an early toxicology report found no drugs in her system at the time.
Malibu Lighthouse denied wrongdoing and admitted no liability under the deal, while Willis' mother, Yesenia Cooper, will remain her conservator because she is legally incapacitated.
Court filings earlier this year described the 27-year-old as permanently disabled from an anoxic brain injury, with her attorney saying she cannot move her body and will never recover.
