Sonos Opens Public Beta for App Redesign 2 Years After 2024 Overhaul

Sonos has started a public beta for new app features on iOS and Android, letting users toggle the redesign on or off from Settings during a months-long test.
The update focuses on cleaner navigation and OS-native behavior after the 2024 app relaunch triggered complaints over buggy controls, disappearing systems and unsynced speakers.
iOS gains left-to-right page transitions, a new System tab, album-art-matched Now Playing backgrounds and revised volume controls, though some of those volume changes are not yet on Android.
Android gets a slimmer miniplayer and a relocated Search tab, while both platforms now use swipe-up on the miniplayer for full-screen Now Playing and shift whole-system views to the System tab.
Sonos still has iOS lock-screen playback controls in private beta, while Android already offers a Now Playing lock-screen widget and hardware-button volume control.
