Summary
Six people have now died in the Upper East Side Legionnaires' outbreak, with 90 diagnosed cases reported across Carnegie Hill and Yorkville.
Six patients remain hospitalized and 65 have been discharged, while health officials said no new cases have been identified since July 17 and they believe the source has been eliminated.
Fifty-nine cooling towers at 58 buildings tested culture positive for live Legionella bacteria after 77 towers at 75 buildings initially showed PCR positives; all positive towers have been cleaned and disinfected.
The city is still investigating the cluster in ZIP codes 10028, 10128 and 10075, with 106 cooling towers already testing culture negative and other results still pending.
