Summary
Missile debris hit an 18-story residential building in Kyiv’s Shevchenkivskyi district overnight, sparking a fire between the 7th and 8th floors during a Russian ballistic attack.
Explosions were heard at 12:23 a.m. local time after Ukraine’s Air Force warned of incoming ballistic missiles, and a separate fire broke out at a non-residential site in Solomianskyi district.
Officials did not immediately give damage details or casualty figures, while large flames were seen rising over part of the capital.
The strike came a day after President Volodymyr Zelensky said intelligence and partner information showed Russia had readied missiles for a new massive attack on Kyiv within 48 hours.
It also followed a July 24 Russian ballistic strike on an arms exhibition in Kyiv that killed 10 people and injured more than 100.
