Apple Launches watchOS 27 Beta With 6-App AI Grid as Siri Takes Permanent Center Slot

watchOS 27 public beta replaces the Apple Watch’s default home screen with six large app icons, five of which reshuffle automatically by usage, time of day and context.
The sixth slot is a permanent Siri AI app, giving one-tap access to an assistant that can answer broader questions and act across apps, but only when a compatible iPhone is nearby.
Apple keeps the old Grid View and List View one tap deeper, yet users cannot pin or lock Dynamic App Grid apps, leaving the layout entirely to Apple’s algorithm.
Support now starts with Series 9 and newer — including Ultra 2, Ultra 3 and SE 3 — dropping Series 8, the original Ultra and older models.
The full release is due in September 2026 alongside new Apple Watch hardware, underscoring Apple’s shift toward an AI-first watch interface.
