Kansas Installs 1st Internet Exchange Point Near Wichita State, Promising Faster Service

Connected Nation installed Kansas’ first internet exchange point Friday across from Wichita State University, lifting the facility into place in three pieces by crane.
The hub is meant to keep Wichita-area internet traffic closer to home instead of routing it to Kansas City and back, cutting latency and lowering costs while improving security and resiliency.
Jessica Denson of Connected Nation said the site is carrier neutral, allowing multiple providers to connect through the same exchange.
The equipment was shipped from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and the Wichita facility is expected to be ready within the next two months.
Connected Nation said the project is also the first internet exchange point built in a midsized U.S. city, giving Kansas a new piece of digital infrastructure.
