Georgia edged Texas in the SEC preseason poll with 88 first-place votes and 2,519 points, while the Longhorns drew 57 first-place votes to finish second.
Four Texas players made the All-SEC first team: receiver Cam Coleman, left tackle Trevor Goosby, edge Colin Simmons and linebacker Rasheem Biles, with return specialist Ryan Niblett also listed on the top unit.
Arch Manning, Niblett and long snapper Trey Dubuc earned second-team honors, while Hollywood Smothers, Ryan Wingo, Brandon Baker and Jelani McDonald were named to the third team.
Niblett's all-purpose selection stood out after he produced just 75 offensive yards last season, while right tackle Melvin Siani was a notable omission.
Steve Sarkisian framed the challenge simply: Texas must beat Georgia to win the SEC, though the preseason poll has correctly predicted the champion only 10 times in 34 years.
