Trunk Bay Tops Beach.com’s World Beach Ranking After Analysis of Nearly 100,000 Reviews

Beach.com ranked Trunk Bay in St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands, as the world’s best beach after reviewing hundreds of submissions and analyzing nearly 100,000 reviews.
The ranking drew on expert recommendations plus EU and NASA data, scoring beaches on water quality, public opinion, accessibility, climate and popularity; Beach.com said few rivals came close to Trunk Bay’s final score.
Virgin Islands National Park protects nearly 60% of St. John, including almost all of the north shore, helping preserve Trunk Bay’s clear water, white sand and 225-yard underwater snorkeling trail.
Visitors 16 and older pay a $5 entry fee, and Beach.com recommends arriving before 8 a.m. or after 3 p.m. and visiting in April, May or June to avoid peak-season crowds.
Trunk Bay was one of three U.S. locations in Beach.com’s top 10, with Flamenco Beach in Puerto Rico at No. 4 and Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge in St. Croix at No. 7.
