Amazon Opens Alexa.com to UK Users, Bringing £19.99 Alexa+ to Any Browser

July 20 marked Alexa.com's UK early-access debut, letting Prime members and eligible subscribers use Alexa+ in any web browser without needing an Echo speaker.
The browser version brings multi-turn chat, document uploads, calendars, to-do lists and smart-home controls, while preserving context across web, app and Echo sessions.
Amazon says the shift rests on a Bedrock-based routing system that sends simpler tasks to Nova models and more complex queries largely to Anthropic's Claude, with substantive requests processed in the cloud.
Alexa+ costs £19.99 a month for non-Prime users, remains limited to UK Early Access subscribers for now, and gives Amazon a browser-based foothold against ChatGPT and Google Gemini.
