Traffic-camera video from Tuesday shows 20-year-old Christopher Hellenthal jumping from his car to help a man in a wheelchair across a busy Jonesboro, Arkansas, intersection.
Hellenthal said he had just clocked out from a trampoline park's superhero day, spotted the man struggling and rushed over because he "wasn't going to make it."
Jonesboro police posted the footage on Facebook, calling the act a "web of kindness" and Hellenthal a "true superhero"; a department spokesperson said she had not seen anything like it in 7 years.
Hellenthal said he would have helped "with or without the suit," while his manager said both the rescue and the costume were entirely in character for him.
