688,000 viewers in 2013 became Trey Wingo’s main rebuttal after Emmanuel Acho said Ryan Clark built ESPN’s “NFL Live” into a juggernaut.
Wingo posted ESPN-reported audience figures on X showing higher comparable early-season averages before Clark joined—624,000 in 2012, 688,000 in 2013, versus 449,000 in 2021 and 440,000 in 2025.
Acho had argued that Clark, alongside Laura Rutledge, Mina Kimes and Marcus Spears, built the show’s current stature, after OutKick’s Dan Zaksheske noted “NFL Live” launched in 1998, long before Clark arrived.
Clark joined ESPN in 2015 and overlapped with Wingo for about five years; the exchange comes as ESPN parts ways with Clark after more than 11 seasons.
