Summary
Drexel Food Lab ranked the Cosori Iconic Stainless Steel 6.5Q the best overall among 10 air fryers after about two months of testing crispness, preheat speed and noise.
Twenty participants preferred food from the top air fryers over a standard Electrolux convection oven, with vegetables, fries, wings and nuggets coming out browner and crisper.
Texture-analyzer tests on up to eight fries per machine backed the sensory results, while the Typhur Sync preheated fastest and Cuisinart’s combo model was quietest at 45 decibels.
Other category winners included Philips 3000 Series as best budget pick, Our Place Wonder Oven Pro as best combo model, Typhur Dome 2 as best splurge and Ninja Crispi for casual cooks.
The Philadelphia-based lab said it will keep tracking long-term performance over the next few months as students take home the remaining machines.
