Cami Feek will temporarily lead Washington’s Department of Enterprise Services after Director Matt Jones stepped down from the post following a personal leave that began July 9.
Ferguson’s office said Jones remains employed by the agency, but officials did not explain why he took leave or how long the transition will last; an agency official said last week there were no criminal allegations.
The department oversees state facilities and other operations with more than 900 employees, a $280 million operating budget and a $1.2 billion capital program, making the leadership change significant across state government.
Martin McMurry, Employment Security’s chief operations officer, will serve as interim commissioner while Feek doubles back to Enterprise Services, where employees were told a search for a permanent director will begin.
