Nick Fox said Google’s AI features in Search now send “billions” of clicks to websites each week, adding a new aggregate traffic claim to Google’s long-standing statement that Search sends billions daily.
The weekly AI figure came in social posts without a published baseline, denominator or methodology, leaving no way to judge how large AI-feature traffic is relative to overall Search clicks.
Search Console’s new generative AI reports for some site owners show impressions and breakdowns by page, country and device, but still omit click data that could help verify the claim.
That leaves publishers with Google’s platform-wide number but no site-level audit trail, as the company says more AI reporting metrics will arrive gradually without saying when.
