Summary
June early estimates showed 30.3 million UK payrolled employees, down 71,000 from a year earlier and 4,000 from May, leaving payrolls broadly flat month on month.
Median monthly pay rose 4.3% year on year to £2,632, extending wage growth even as employment continued to weaken.
Health and social work added 39,000 employees and posted the fastest pay growth at 6.2%, while accommodation and food services lost 79,000 jobs and remained the lowest-paid sector at £1,432.
Regional payroll growth was negative across all UK regions except Northern Ireland, which rose 1.4%; London saw the steepest NUTS1 decline at 0.8%.
The June figures are provisional, based on about 85% of returns, and are likely to be revised next month when data coverage rises to 98%-99%.
