Steve Forbes said the Strait of Hormuz must remain open "at all costs" and urged Donald Trump to abandon diplomacy and intensify pressure to bring down Iran's government.
Nine straight days of U.S. strikes on Iranian targets framed his argument that Washington should keep all options open, though he said air power should make a ground deployment unnecessary.
Forbes cast free passage through Hormuz as a longstanding U.S. principle of freedom of navigation, comparing it with the South China Sea and citing the Barbary wars as precedent.
He also warned against what he called another "fake ceasefire," saying sustained U.S. and Israeli pressure could encourage anti-regime elements inside Iran's military.
