59,281 miles and 115 flight hours — excluding a separate Qatar funeral trip — were logged by the Gulfstream used by FIFA President Gianni Infantino during the 2026 World Cup, according to an AP analysis of flight records.
The travel reflected the tournament’s vast footprint across three countries, 16 cities and four time zones: Infantino attended 43 matches, visited all 16 stadiums and on 13 days made it to two games.
FlightAware data showed the jet averaged more than one flight a day from June 9, crossed North American borders 23 times and at one point covered 5,772 miles in a single day.
The heavy jet use underscores criticism of the expanded 104-match tournament’s climate impact, even as FIFA says it aims to halve World Cup-related emissions by 2030 and reach net zero by 2040.
