Summary
Microsoft has opened orders for Snapdragon X2 versions of its Surface Laptop 8 for Business and 13-inch Surface Pro 12 for Business, extending Arm-based chips to its business Surface lineup.
The move ends the earlier split that kept Snapdragon in consumer Surface devices and Intel in business models, while Microsoft still offers Intel variants for business buyers.
Surface Laptop 8 for Business adds a built-in privacy screen that obscures off-angle viewing and supports Windows 11’s new haptic trackpad feedback, making it the more feature-rich update.
Surface Pro 12 for Business is mainly a spec refresh with stronger graphics than first-generation Snapdragon X, but its Snapdragon model lacks 5G, which remains available only on the Intel version.
Business models also ship with enterprise-focused extras such as Windows 11 Pro or Enterprise, Autopilot pre-registration and cloud management features, though Microsoft says anyone can buy them.
