At a Pennsylvania event, Donald Trump said “affordability” was a “fake word” and again claimed “most people” do not know “dumb” contains a “b,” using it to repeat his “Dumocrat” insult.
The word “affordability” dates to 1910, and the attack cuts against Trump’s own pledge to lower prices from day one as inflation has remained a political vulnerability.
Oil prices had already surged after Trump launched a war with Iran in February, feeding broader price pressures; although the latest inflation report offered some relief, new strikes on Iran have pushed oil higher again.
The aside came during the same Pennsylvania trip where Trump earlier said his administration would replace immigrant truck drivers with veterans and tighten enforcement on unauthorized drivers.
