Valve and iFixit said replacement batteries for the original Steam Deck LCD will be available again after a real stock disruption raised fears that official parts were being phased out.
iFixit CEO Kyle Wiens said Valve "hooked us up with a supplier," resolving the shortage after staff had told users there were no immediate plans to restock OEM batteries.
The issue centered on the 2022 LCD model, not the newer OLED Steam Deck, and mattered because battery swaps were long presented as essential to the handheld's repairability.
The reversal eases concern that Valve was abandoning self-repair support only months after discontinuing the LCD Steam Deck at the end of 2025.
