Summary
Build 26300.8772 is rolling out to Windows Insiders in the Experimental channel with a cleaner Windows 11 search experience that replaces the taskbar search pane’s extra content with recent searches.
Microsoft also says local results will be prioritized when they are the better match, aiming to surface apps, files and settings more reliably instead of steering users to web results.
Promotional content has been removed from web results, and a new Settings > Privacy & Security > Search toggle lets users turn off web and Microsoft Store suggestions entirely.
The beta release is part of Microsoft’s push to make Windows 11 feel more “calm” after complaints about AI features and ads, as it tries to win back users amid stronger competition from Apple and Linux-based systems.
