Rosie O'Donnell said daughter Chelsea has been sober for almost two years, offering the clearest positive update since their prison reunion last month.
The visit at Wisconsin's Taycheedah Correctional Institution lasted four hours and became their first conversation in 10 years to run longer than 25 minutes, though a tornado warning cut it short.
Chelsea, 28, cried when the reunion ended, and O'Donnell said it was the first time she had seen an empathetic reaction from her daughter, calling it a sign she is maturing.
O'Donnell linked Chelsea's long addiction struggle to being born addicted and said she has sought Chelsea's input for an upcoming one-woman show about their complicated relationship.
