Summary
One runner was gored in the face and 12 others needed medical treatment after a chaotic Saturday bull run in Pamplona.
A black bull broke from the pack early in the 957-yard course, plowing into runners as the six bulls and steers knocked people onto the cobblestones and triggered pileups.
The run lasted about 2 1/2 minutes from the pen to the bullring, where the bulls are killed later in the day as part of the San Fermin festival.
Saturday marked the fifth of eight morning runs; the festival is marking 100 years since Ernest Hemingway's writing helped make San Fermin internationally famous.
The last face goring at the festival was reported in 2009, though gorings and broken bones remain common as novices and tourists join experienced local runners.
