At that stage there was no active murder investigation, no arrest warrant and no airport alert tied to the case, so there was nothing immediate to stop him from departing through normal transport channels. Gardaí later reconstructed the timeline through CCTV, transport records and phone analysis. The challenge now is legal as well as operational. Gardaí are working with Europol and Interpol to trace him in Turkey or beyond, but Irish law generally requires a charging decision or sentence before extradition can be formally pursued. That means investigators must build enough evidence quickly for the Director of Public Prosecutions to authorize the next step.
