In practice, PC players often already have more control than console users, even if the patch notes do not advertise it as a named mode. The patch note wording also matters. It says the Switch 2 option “has been added at launch” and is “not available on Steam,” but that does not mean PC is less powerful. It more likely reflects interface design and optimization priorities: Switch 2 needed a clear docked-handheld style preset for a known hardware profile, while PC remains the platform where users fine-tune settings themselves.

It also lasts only one turn, which reduces its consistency compared with stable buffs, direct damage rotations, or more predictable support tools. In practice, that makes it look less like a meta-breaking button and more like a high-impact tactical option that can swing a turn if it hits the right stat at the right moment. So the bigger strategic shift is not Terriermon Assistant alone, but the broader design change that allows debuffs to matter against bosses. If that system is as effective in endgame encounters as early descriptions suggest, players may start building teams around disruption and control more often. A PS5 update for Digimon Story Time Stranger is now live, finally adding an optional full-HD mode targeting up to 60fps more than eight months after launch.
The patch also adds Terriermon Assistant as a playable partner, a Photo Mode during field exploration, and a screen to check Digivolution conditions in the Digifarm.
Bandai Namco had promised a performance upgrade after the RPG launched on PS5 capped at 30fps, a point of disappointment for players.
The broader free update has been rolling out across platforms from July 8 to July 10, with earlier reports also noting bug fixes and graphics options elsewhere.
