Two people were taken into custody Friday night after gunfire at Dearborn's Fairlane Town Center left two people dead and a third wounded.
Police said an altercation between two groups erupted around 1:25 p.m., with people from both groups armed; one victim died inside the mall and another at a hospital.
The shooting triggered a mall evacuation as Dearborn, Michigan State and University of Michigan-Dearborn officers cleared stores; police also said one person was struck by a car while fleeing.
Victims were believed to be in their late teens or early 20s, the motive remains undetermined, and the mall was temporarily closed as investigators sought more information.
