Summary
Gemini Spark is now live in beta in the Gemini macOS app for U.S. Google AI Ultra subscribers 18 and older, starting with version 1.80.15.516.
The new Spark tab lets the AI act on local folders users explicitly link—sorting PDFs, extracting invoice figures into Google Workspace spreadsheets, and running scheduled desktop tasks—with access revocable at any time.
Google also added web and mobile integrations with Google Tasks, Keep, Canva, Dropbox, Instacart, OpenTable and Zillow Rentals, with those rollouts starting over the next week and macOS support following weeks later.
Support for custom MCP servers and real-time topic tracking broadens Spark beyond file automation, letting it connect to more services and monitor news, social media, finance, weather and email for alerts.
Google said a future update will let users start Mac tasks from a phone; the feature is bundled with Google AI Ultra, which starts at $99 a month.
