A 79-year-old Agoura Hills woman died Monday after a white Tesla jumped a curb outside Urbane Cafe in Simi Valley and pinned her beneath the vehicle.
Police said the 64-year-old driver was heading north through the shopping-center parking lot and failed to complete a right turn toward Madera Road, sending the car over the sidewalk and into the restaurant's outdoor seating area.
Two customers had just stood up and avoided the collision moments earlier; the driver and one of four juvenile passengers were hospitalized with minor injuries, while three other juveniles were released to family.
Investigators said the crash does not appear intentional, but they are still examining whether speed, mechanical failure or driver impairment caused the fatal wreck.
