Lucid Cuts 705 Arizona Jobs, Eliminating 18% of Workforce

Lucid told Arizona it will eliminate 705 jobs by the end of the third quarter, with cuts hitting full-time staff, contractors and hourly manufacturing workers.
The reduction is tied to scrapping the second production shift at Lucid's Casa Grande factory and is expected to save the EV maker $158 million a year.
The SEC filing also said COO Marc Winterhoff left immediately and the role was eliminated as the company continues a broader downsizing.
This is Lucid's second layoff round this year after a 12% workforce cut in February, and follows 400 job eliminations announced in 2024.
The retrenchment comes months after Uber agreed to buy at least 35,000 Lucid vehicles for robotaxis and added $500 million to its investment.
