Grammys Add 5 Categories Including Asian Pop and Latin Song for 2027 Ceremony

Summary
Five new Grammy categories will debut at next year’s ceremony, led by best Asian pop music performance and best Latin song, alongside new R&B, traditional pop and traditional folk awards.
The Recording Academy said the expansion was driven by calls for more inclusive recognition, after it added more Korean and Latino voters last year and broadened eligibility across K-pop, J-pop and C-pop.
Best Latin song nominees must be predominantly in Spanish, while the existing R&B performance prize will now focus on solo acts and the folk album category will shift to contemporary folk.
Best new artist rules also loosened: the submission cap rises from three to four, reopening eligibility for acts such as Ravyn Lenae and Ella Langley.
The changes follow a breakthrough year for non-English music at the Grammys, with Bad Bunny winning album of the year for a Spanish-language record and KPop Demon Hunters’ “Golden” becoming the first K-pop Grammy winner.
