Summary
Tuesday's hearing for Luigi Mangione was postponed to Wednesday after prosecutors told the judge they had failed to file the paperwork needed to bring him from a federal jail in Brooklyn.
Judge Gregory Carro had expected to address an undisclosed issue tied to a sealed proceeding held two weeks ago, but Assistant District Attorney Joel Seidemann said a court order allowing Mangione to wear a suit did not secure transport.
Mangione, 28, has pleaded not guilty to state and federal charges in the Dec. 4, 2024 shooting death of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson and could face life in prison if convicted.
His state murder trial is set for Sept. 8 and his federal trial for Oct. 13, with Carro having ruled last month that jurors may hear evidence including a 3D-printed handgun and a notebook prosecutors say link him to the killing.
