Summary
Charlie Florek’s collapse in the finale is a heart attack, not a panic attack, with Michael Bradway and Amy B. Harris tying it to his family history and his own worsening heart problems.
A 1-year-plus time jump finds Charlie wealthy but isolated, and the trigger is Alice Everly’s photo of Charlie, Sam and Percy on the Floreks’ yellow boat — a direct setup for the sequel story One Golden Summer.
Prime Video has not officially renewed the series, but Harris said Season 2 would dig into Charlie’s redemption arc and introduce Alice more fully; the role has not been cast.
Sam and Percy also remain unresolved after the finale’s partial reconciliation, with Harris saying Sam still has to process Percy’s betrayal with Charlie and that their relationship is only beginning.
The showrunner also signaled more story for the ensemble, especially the Jordie-Chantal-Delilah triangle, as the adaptation expands beyond the central romance while drawing on Carley Fortune’s sequel.
