Summary
Jonathon Cooper entered a not-guilty plea Monday in Douglas County court and is due back July 6 for a motions hearing before a trial expected to start July 22.
Two domestic violence counts and one criminal mischief count stem from a late-Thursday fight over phones after Cooper's girlfriend accused him of cheating, according to jail and arrest records.
Police said Cooper and the woman gave conflicting accounts; officers wrote her injuries did not appear consistent with claims that he lifted her by the throat and repeatedly threw her down.
Harvey Steinberg said Cooper wants the case tried as early as possible so he can attend mandatory Broncos practices, with training camp likely opening in late July.
Cooper, 28, signed a four-year, $60 million extension in 2024 and finished second on Denver last season with 8 sacks; the Broncos said they are gathering information.
